AuPairsy connects adults across borders. This creates real risks: immigration problems, labour exploitation, fraud, abuse, unsafe childcare, and trafficking. This policy sets minimum safety rules for all Users.
1. Emergency rule
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. Do not wait for AuPairsy support.
Then report the issue to support@aupairsy.com or dsa@aupairsy.com.
2. Non-negotiable safety rules
Users must never:
- withhold another person’s passport, identity document, phone, bank card, money, medicine, or travel documents;
- restrict freedom of movement;
- demand illegal working hours;
- refuse legally required pay, pocket money, time off, accommodation, insurance, or food;
- require duties outside the agreed arrangement;
- threaten immigration consequences;
- pressure anyone into travel or work before legal requirements are met;
- engage in sexual harassment, grooming, exploitation, coercion, or violence.
3. Before matching
All Users should:
- verify the other party’s identity;
- conduct video calls;
- ask for references;
- check local visa/work/residence rules;
- agree on pay/pocket money, hours, duties, time off, room, insurance, and termination in writing;
- keep copies of important documents under their own control;
- share travel plans with trusted contacts;
- avoid large advance payments;
- use secure payment methods;
- avoid arrangements that seem rushed, secretive, or too good to be true.
4. Host Family duties
Host Families must:
- comply with all local laws;
- check whether the arrangement is legal before inviting an Au Pair Candidate;
- provide any legally required written contract;
- provide safe and adequate accommodation;
- provide legally required pay, pocket money, food, rest days, and insurance;
- respect privacy, autonomy, and freedom of movement;
- allow the au pair to keep possession of all identity and travel documents;
- allow access to emergency services, communication tools, and outside help;
- not demand tasks outside the lawful au pair arrangement;
- not leave children with a person who is not legally or practically able to care for them.
5. Au Pair Candidate duties
Au Pair Candidates must:
- check visa, residence, work, insurance, and tax rules before travel;
- keep control of passports and important documents;
- keep emergency funds where possible;
- keep contact with trusted persons;
- understand the agreement before travel;
- refuse illegal or unsafe tasks;
- report coercion, abuse, withheld documents, non-payment, or unsafe childcare.
6. Children’s privacy and safety
Host Families must not publish children’s photos, full names, schools, exact location, or routines.
AuPairsy may remove child-identifying content even if the parent or guardian uploaded it.
7. Warning signs
Treat the following as serious warning signs:
- pressure to travel immediately;
- refusal to video call;
- refusal to provide written terms;
- requests for passport scans outside secure official channels;
- payment requests through unusual channels;
- promises of guaranteed visas;
- threats involving police or immigration;
- demands to keep the arrangement secret;
- no private room where one is legally or practically required;
- unclear pay, hours, or duties;
- confiscated documents;
- isolation from friends, family, internet, or phone.
8. AuPairsy response
AuPairsy may:
- prioritise imminent-risk reports;
- restrict accounts while reviewing;
- remove content;
- contact affected Users;
- preserve evidence;
- refer Users to emergency or official resources;
- report suspected serious crimes to competent authorities where legally required or justified.
9. Limits of AuPairsy’s role
AuPairsy is an online platform. It cannot guarantee User safety, legal compliance, or suitability. Users must perform their own checks and obtain professional advice when needed.
